Hello friend,
Teaching in December is one crazy moment after another, not to mention schedule changes and holiday activities.
So, I’m here with ideas for your December lesson plans!
First, I don’t know about you, but my students always need practice with math facts and task cards are engaging and can be used in many different ways.
Here are my top 5 ways to use December task cards:
- Math center-put math task cards at your center while you work with other students
- Engage early finishers-provide task cards for students who finish early
- Build math fact fluency-task cards are an easy & effective strategy to practice math facts
- Whole class game-Use task cards to play SCOOT, which is a whole class game that provides review and movement! (Directions are included in the resource!)
- Differentiation-There are 2 sets of task cards to practice addition and subtraction facts to 10 and 20.
Second, engage your students with holiday would you rather questions! These are engaging because students must decide between 2 choices and provide their reason why they made that choice. You can use these questions during morning meeting, in your literacy center or as a whole class activity.
Third, plan now for after winter break! Use these writing prompts after your students return from winter break. There are differentiated writing options with a word bank to support all writers.
