My name is Angel

I support teachers in building a positive classroom community with management systems, strategies, and activities so students can be engaged in learning.

Developing a positive classroom community with our students has never been more important.

I’ve learned what works and I want to share it with you!

Hello friend!

my story

My passion for classroom culture comes from being an educator for over two decades. an essential foundation for learning

When I first started teaching, I wish I had known the importance of building a positive classroom community. I was teaching kindergarten and  my students didn’t know how to be in school let alone how to be part of a learning community. My students and I did make it to the end of the year, but I sure wish I knew then what I know now.

Through the next several years, I worked in several schools. I got good at being the new kid on the block and adjusting to different school climates. I learned skills for building community from my colleagues and doing my own trial and error. I also realized that if I needed to feel connected in each new classroom so did my students.

Eventually I started with a consistent morning routine so students knew what to expect each day. In addition, I established a welcoming community and provided time for students to share good news or bad news. Throughout the day I added other strategies and routines to build connections and community.

After some time, I found a district where I have now been teaching for 15 years. In that time I have  honed my community building skills and strategies.  Helping teachers build  positive classroom connections is my passion! You don’t need clip charts or treasure boxes-you just need structure, engagement and connecting strategies to build a positive learning community. Now, I want to share them with you!

Behind the Screen

I DREAM THAT ONE DAY..

all students will feel connected to their teachers and peers at school. Also I dream that developing a welcoming school climate will be a priority in every classroom in every grade.

THERE’S NOTHING I LIKE MORE THAN

walking my dog, drinking coffee and a hamburgers with all the toppings and french fries with tartar sauce.

IT MAY SURPRISE YOU TO KNOW THAT

even though I live near the beach, I don’t really like seafood. I like shrimp and fresh fish tacos but that’s about it!
